Pomme de Pin - Jard sur Mer

Text Box: Pomme de Pin is a small friendly family run campsite set amongst lofty pine trees on the edge of the attractive coastal village of Jard sur Mer, on the southern Vendée coast - an area renowned for its glorious sunny weather.

Jard sur Mer is one of the smallest resorts on the Vendee coast and has retained its unspoilt character with a charming village centre with shops and restaurants offering a choice of local cuisine and an attractive marina where a huge array of boats are often moored.

There are very few campsites in the Vendee where you can walk to a sandy beach in less than 10 minutes or walk into the centre of town in around the same time, Pomme de Pin is one of these rare locations able to offer both. The beach close to the campsite is sandy (see photo) and also has areas of rock pools where the children (and adults too !) can search for sea life.

Although the campsite is small, it still has most of the facilities you would expect to find at a four star location including a heated swimming pool with water slide, a bar overlooking the pool where evening entertainment is regularly organised, and a takeaway where the owner can often be found preparing fresh dishes.
There is also children’s play area, table tennis & bike hire plus the normal laundry facilities and a small shop.

Just a few minutes drive from Jard is the historic town of Talmont St Hilaire with its impressive 11th century chateau, which has connections with Richard the Lionheart, and there is also an interesting motor museum. Continuing the medieval theme, a day trip to the Grand Parc Puy du Fou is well worth the 90 minute drive and La Rochelle can be reached in about an hours drive.

Although Jard is relatively small and quiet the bright lights are never far away with the busy resort of Les Sables d’Olonne about a 30 minute drive to the north. Heading inland, the cathedral town of Lucon is also about 30 minutes away and the quiet leafy waterways of the Venise Vert ( Green Venice ) which can be explored by boat or cycle are within an hour.

If a small friendly campsite with virtually direct access to a beach and just a short walk to shops and restaurants is appealing, then La Pomme de Pin would make an excellent choice.
Our mobile homes at this location are wide-bodied 2 bedroom Mercure models which can sleep up to 6 people each but are particularly recommended for couples or families of up to 2 adults & 2 children.
