thearea the Vendée region on the west coast of France enjoys one of the best climates in France, its annual sunshine record is second only to the Riviera itself.  There are miles and miles of golden sandy beaches home to some of Frances best known holiday resorts.  Unlike the Riviera however, the Vendée is relatively easily accessible from the UK. Ferry crossings to Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo are ideal routes - a morning or afternoons drive along excellent toll free roads will get you to your destination.
If you wish to venture away from the beaches and campsite facilities, there are many places of interest within easy reach.  You can explore the nearby isle of Noirmoutier which can be accessed by a causeway at low tide (or the not quite so exciting road bridge!) and there are leisurely boat trips to the island of Yeu.  A short drive inland will bring you to the Chateau and lake at Apremont and then there is the unmissable Grand Parc Puy du Fou.

thecampsite   camping Les Amiaux is situated just outside what is probably one of the best known resorts in the Vendée - St Jean de Monts.  It is a four star campsite set in over 30 acres of park next to a cool pine forest.  With a family orientated atmosphere, it has superb facilities for both adults and children including one of the best indoor pools we have seen on any campsite in France.
It is in a great position, about 2 miles from the centre of St Jean de Monts and just over ½ a mile from the fantastic Daviere beach.  A pathway leads from the campsite through the forest to the beach where the wide soft sands shelve gently to the sea.  There are lots of shady picnic areas and pathways in the forest and several cycle tracks in the area if you are feeling more energetic!  Les Amiaux has excellent facilities including two separate pool complexes.  There is the traditional heated outdoor pool together with a smaller pool with twisting water slide, plus toddlers' pool.  The very impressive new complex includes an outdoor pool with no fewer than five exciting water chutes and the fantastic, newly built indoor pool complex. There is also a restaurant and bar with various family entertainments and activities organised in the main season. Several play areas plus football, volleyball, tennis, mini-golf, table tennis should keep the children more than happy.
