thearea the Vendée coast boasts several popular holiday resorts, from St Jean de Monts and St Gilles-Croix de Vie in the North to Jard sur Mer and La Tranche sur Mer in the South. La Loubine is positioned almost midway along the coastline just outside the sophisticated resort of Les Sables d'Olonne. There are many places of interest within easy reach including the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier, the medieval lakeside village of Apremont and the unmissable 'Le Grand Parc' and Cinescenic at Le Puy du Fou.
thecampsite location, location, location ! It's difficult to imagine a better one if you are looking for a classic beach holiday. With it's spectacular beach-side setting, you couldn't really get any closer to the sea. La Dune des Sables is a four star campsite nestling between the Olonne forest and the Atlantic beaches. In addition to it's enviable location, it also has all the facilities you would expect to find on a quality French campsite including an attractive pool complex with children's pool and waterslides, tennis court, bar, takeaway meals, children's play area etc. From the bar terrace overlooking the pool, there are impressive sea views and the sunsets can be quite breathtaking. Cyclists are well catered for, a purpose built coastal cycle path passes directly outside the campsite entrance. Turn left and you enter the forest with several miles of pathway to explore in front of you. Turn right, and you will head towards Les Sables d'Olonne and the old port of La Chaume which is only a short ride away. La Chaume is the former fisherman's district which sits on one side of the entrance to the harbour and the marina at Port Olonna, home to thousands of sailing boats and the start and finish point for the world famous Vendee Globe yacht race. This is where Ellen McArthur triumphantly returned from her record braking voyage a few years ago. On the opposite side is the main resort of Les Sables d'Olonne which can be reached by the short water taxi which runs back and forth throughout the day. On both sides there are numerous waterside restaurants where you can sample the local cuisine. During July & August, there is almost a carnival atmosphere during the evenings when the promenade is closed to traffic to allow street performers to entertain in spectacular fashion.
